SAMER HATAM (b.1964) is an artist based in Auckland. He studied printmaking at the Baghdad Institute of Fine Arts and completed an MFA at the university of Auckland, Elam School of Fine Arts. His practice celebrates powerful architectural forms such as the Sumerian ziggurats and modern structures. He has been practising internationally since 1984 and was nominated as a finalist for the James Wallace Art Award in 2005. Major solo shows internationally and in New Zealand include My City at the Judith Anderson Gallery 2005, Transplant at the Edmiston Duke Gallery 2006 and Urbs at the City Art Rooms 2007. |
